This is my 4th heli, the 1st 2 were the micros you would see flying around the mall a handful of years back. They had been enjoyable but lacked control. Following a couple weeks, I was bored and decided to order a Blade CX2. It was significantly even more manueverable and gave me a run for my cash ability wise. I didnt have enough area in the property to have much entertaining with it so it didnt get applied a entire lot. A handful of weeks ago, I got the itch to try an additional heli out and figured the rather tiny size would permit for much more enjoyment in the limited area I have out there. Right after a bit of study, I settled on the 9958 simply because it could bind to the Turnigy 9x transmitter that I'd currently ordered and it had some decent evaluations from other sources. I also wanted to stay away from the coax helis and attempt a thing a bit extra complicated to fly but not as well challenging.
Right after charging it up Christmas morning, I set out to test my capabilities. It was tougher to fly than the CX2 but not also considerably. It was considerably faster, as well swift for me at this point (I am extremely a lot a rookie nevertheless). There was incredibly tiny wind outside so out the door I went. It was a load of entertaining to fly outdoors! I flew a bit to high and got caught up in the light breeze and started out to drift into the neighbors back yard so I cut the throttle just before it flew any additional. I felt like a kid once more as I knocked on the neighbors door and explained that my toy was in her backyard (I'm now 36). She opened up the gate and I grabbed the chopper. Back in my yard, I started out flying once more. I'd picked up a quantity of the Syma helis for my buddies to fly so there were four of us in the front yard flying at the very same time. I bent down to pick up 1 of them whereas I was flying and crashed mine on power. That is where the fun ended. Just after the crash, I had a vibration in the tail motor/rotor that made flying it quite problematic. I was able to bend the tail rotor a bit to make it at least flyable but it was nevertheless quite rough to hang onto and suffered pretty serious TBE (toilet bowl effect).
Just before the crash, the heli flew incredibly stable and was very responsive. I hit the nearby hobby shop for some replacement rear rotors the Blade MSR looked to have the very same rotors but the only piece the shop had with the rotor included the boom and motor as well so I grabbed the whole unit. The tail motor for the MSR was considerably larger and I decided to go ahead and mount that whereas I was at it. Wiring the new motor was a bit tedious with the type of wire utilized with the MSR (looks to be epoxy coated wire vice silicon insulation). I got it wired back up and the heli was back in action but nonetheless suffered from TBE. The MSR tail motor didnt seem to present any added maneuverability over the stock motor. The tail motor has now failed and I suspect it will probably be a difficulty with the ESC vice the motor itself perhaps it draws also considerably existing?
I was very pleased with the overall performance and was going to order some replacement parts but decided to acquire a further and use this as a components donor instead. Hopefully chopper quantity two lasts a tiny longer (also have a Trex 100s on the way). I cant fault the chopper for my lack of ability or my failed science experiment. I will update the post as soon as "2" arrives (hopefully black and yellow this time vice the lavendar/yellow that showed up the initial time...).
This heli should certainly hold me over for a although. It is rather maneuverable, fairly fast, and is still fairly stable in the hands of a novice. I obtain it to be a great upgrade in the skill necessary to fly from the CX2 but not so considerably that it really is frustrating to fly.
I got the S022 3-ch Chinook by syma a couple months ago and found that I enjoy flying these tiny guys about the house. This little bird is SWEET! It was a lot harder to control at very first, but totally worth it. It is Fast! I reside in a 2000sqr foot house and this small guy is hugely limited by that space. Require like a parking garage, or outside w/ no wind to see the complete prospective.
Durability: pops apart very easily in totally different spots on difficult crashes, which in turn pops back together readily. My buddy got the similar one and he's Under no circumstances flown a single before and I most certainly do not suggest that. He can not do anything except crash.
When I got the package, my charger was damaged, and I had to pop the plastic end apart, reseat the metal prongs in there and glue it back together to charge the battery. I generally finish up charging it off my laptop because it is usb - it is nice to not have an additional thing to plug into the wall.
