Somehow I managed to crash and snap off the tabs that pin into the rotor blade assembly. I did not actually want the complete shaft but this had the portion. I was able to loosen the screws (which had been included, as opposed to the prior post) and swap the black piece onto the current shaft attached to my chopper. It took a minute or two to get almost everything back but then we had been flying again!
It functions. And it is a fine match for the original Syma 107g. I found it much more intuitive to transfer the replacement head to my original shaft (with its intact drive gear) to replace the broken blade axles. I do not know how tough it would have been to get rid of the gear - I assume it would not be straightforward.
