Buyer Evaluations

Right after flying my S107 for a couple of weeks I didn't anticipate any micro coaxial helicopter to leading it for fun. I was incorrect...
The Avatar Z008 did not fly fairly so conveniently at initial. It was much more tricky to maintain altitude. I didn't care for the dead stick throttle. It was too simple and easy to begin the issue with blades spinning and then the mad rush to get it beneath manage. I place a heavy rubber band across the controller to hold the throttle stick down. This was a tiny ugly but productive. The trim for left/right rotation required some interest for each flight and the extra weight more than the S107 made the Avatar drop even more immediately than I was applied to. Implementing the outrigger motors was tricky to coordinate with the throttle for level sideways flight considering that they use the similar stick.
I initially felt the S107 merely had the Avatar beat for entertaining and overall performance. As I stated before, I was wrong! It took around ten flights and my whole point of view altered. Instinctively I was able to hold altitude and hover regularly. I began to get the really feel for the side motors and could coordinate slides clear across the space with the fourth axis. I could rotate and move sideways at the exact same time and even creep forward and reverse - it was feeling way more 3D all the time. Just after an hour or so of flight time I was in a position to compare my new Avatar with my S107 and right here is what I like about them both.
They each charge from my laptop in much less than 1/two hour. The Avatar charges up approximately 30% quicker.
They both fly extended sufficient for me to welcome a break. In other words I was satisfied with the length of flight time. The S107 flies longer by about 30% but length doesn't equal excellent and like I said, I am consistently happy when the batteries get low. I am prepared to get recharged with the LiPos.
They both lift off steadily and with ease. Neither makes any dramatic lunges or spins. The Avatar does not shoot for the ceiling like the S107 when the batteries are at complete charge but the S107 seems to float a lot more readily as the Avatar takes a tiny far more concentration to maintain it from sinking to the floor.
The S107 moves significantly more slowly than the Avatar by 50% or so but they both stop and turn swiftly and accurately in the identical manner.
I like to practice landings on small flat surfaces other than the floor. I've gotten really good at it with each but mainly because of the extra 6 grams of the Avatar, my landings with it are better. The little additional mass appears to combat the buffeting of the air against the surrounding objects for the duration of landing.
Both are sturdy and durable. I have crashed the S107 much more usually and have replaced two rotor blades but it was the S107 that taught me to be cautious. Each have created solid speak to against table legs and have fallen from heights. I somewhat consider that the Avatar's side motor nacelles tend to offer you a tiny protection for the blades in some circumstances.
Mainly because I've learned to use the two small motors on the sides of the Avatar, I have come to like them a lot. I delight in the miniature roar when they are engaged and the challenge to maintain the Z008 at an even hover altitude. Leveling is never an problem. Each side motors come on when moving either left or proper, spinning in opposite directions. It is a exceptional and pleasant feature and what causes me to choose the Avatar when it comes time for a small fun.
The Avatar comes with some spare parts (blades) for the key, tail and side motors and a tiny Phillips screwdriver that doesn't seem to fit anything, which includes the IR control door for the batteries. I hope to not have to have them but they are there if I do. I would surely hope that spare parts will grow to be obtainable web based as the Avatar deserves a following. When I come dwelling from function, I look forward to a little enjoyable and it is the Avatar Z008 that is on my thoughts.
UPDATE: As ordinarily happens appropriate after a assessment is written, I managed to sheer the rotor shaft stopper pins. This is the component that locks the top blades to the shaft that turns them. I have discovered a supply for the component but it is not in stock. I did have a couple of hours worth of enjoyable out of this toy and I hope to be in a position to repair it for some significantly more in the future. I could complain about the excellent but honestly, these things take place and any individual acquiring an RC helicopter soon comes to comprehend they are prone to these difficulties.

My Z008 flew perfectly out of the box. I was shocked that charging instances had been about 18-22 minutes. When a side motor is engaged, you ought to enhance throttle in order to sustain altitude. This took me about four-five flights to master. At this point I was amazed at just how maneuverable this micro chopper definitely is. It is able to outperform my Syma S107 in all categories except durabilty. I flew it for almost two weeks with no incident. It suffered what I regarded as to be a minor crash which broke the major shaft stopper. This is the portion the holds the best blades in spot along with the connect buckles. I fully realized that acquiring replacement components for the Z008 was going to be challenging. For 1, it is a fairly new item. Also, as 90% of every thing, it is created in China. That being said, I have situated a source for components and the link beneath really should assist present and future owners. The part I will need is nevertheless unavailable, but it must be in the close to future. It is so considerably entertaining that I have regarded getting a further and turning my original into a parts donor. What stops me is the notion that this could rather well be the Z008's Achilles heel. I like this chopper sufficient to invent a way to reinforce it. Had I received a defective instance of one particular of these little gems, I am particular I would really feel differently and I can completely relate with that sort of disappointment. Hope this assists.
