Inexpensive and really fun to fly around the residence. A micro RC helicopter that does not cost and arm and a leg, that can take a beating, and nonetheless be somewhat painless to fly accurately is just about every small boy's dream. I have the original foam 2 ch SpinMasters helicopter and the 3 ch Syma S010 devoid of the gyro or remote operated lights, so I really feel that I am fairly experienced with these toys.
This Apache has a really properly detailed plastic body and with the larger 3.7v battery, it flies considerably quicker than the preceding 1.7v choppers. The controls are a bit more than-sensitive in that the slightest movements on the appropriate stick rotates it or pitches it forward at close to full speed - virtually not significantly proportional manage. The Syma may have been slower and didn't have the gyro, but it was smoother and additional precise in controlling it. My Apache also seems to have a defective gyro or manage technique, mainly because when hovering, it continually spins clockwise slowly, even if the trim is set as far as possible to compensate. As the battery winds down, that clockwise spinning gets a bit more quickly and I have to apply some left rudder to compensate additional, which is troublesome because the rudder is again overly sensitive. I also do not like the non-spring loaded throttle. It tends to make it far to simple and easy to crash into anything and then do further harm to the blades since the throttle is still up. As you fly around an indoor space you'll nonetheless be generating continuous adjustments to the throttle, so I see why they need to have it stick to one particular setting.
As far as educational worth, nicely it looks like a traditional helicopter, but the propeller configuration and flight control schemes are considerably completely different - probably less expensive to generate but much less "accurate" or accurate to life. Being in a position to turn on the lights from the remote is incredibly nice but I wish the colored lights would have been placed additional "authentically" on the tail and sides as genuine navigation lights instead of the weird rainbow strobe thingy under the tail. Seems like I am acquiring additional and more items from Amazon that appear employed. The boxes appear like they've been opened, and now I received this helicopter where again the box was re-taped, and only the front light functions, not the remaining three along the rod. The helicopter functions fine, but appears to have been used just before.
